Counseling For Men’s Issues
Individual Counseling
Sessions range from 50-minute sessions to 80-minute weekly or biweekly, with the possibility of some “weekend intensives” offered on a case-by-case basis.
Psychotherapy sessions may include traditional talk therapy, trauma-informed care, EMDR, and/or other treatment modalities custom-made for each client.
The uniqueness of each man’s history and personality will determine the length of time required before the client is able to successfully manage his own recovery with new mental and emotional understanding, sobriety skills, and healthy accountability systems.
Most experts believe that genuine recovery stability will take 3-5 years. Individual counseling is only one component of that journey, and the amount of time needed varies by client.
Therapeutic Recovery Groups
Recovery group sessions are for men struggling with addiction to porn, masturbation, and/or sexually acting out behaviors. These sessions are eventually assigned to clients after some time spent in individual recovery sessions.
These confidential, private groups last 1.5 hours, once per week, for 1-3 years.
There is a curriculum and homework assignments to actively engage each man. A “band of brothers” helps each other as the counselor leads and moderates each weekly session. This is a proven, essential part of recovery.
Addiction is never overcome in isolation.
